The all-women’s travel company, Women’s Adventure Travels, is heading to Africa in 2023 and has a few sweet spots on their trips specifically for GoNOMAD’s readers. And for women only!lion in Botswana

What is WAT?

If you are unfamiliar with Women’s Adventure Travels, or WAT, it is a boutique travel specializing in small, well-curated trips for women, by women, and with women.

The unique elements of WAT’s trips reflect who I am and have been as an adventurer and savvy traveler.

As WAT’s Aventuress in Chief, I have traveled to 70+ countries as a travel and lifestyle writer and photographer for over 100 international media outlets, which is how I met GoNOMAD’s Max Hartshorne.

The Relationships Help a Lot!

I have called on my many relationships with the world’s top tour guides, tastemakers, and impactful leaders around the globe to assist me in custom-tailoring the best trips possible. With these trips, I’m thrilled to take parts of my past and present and move them all into this fierce feminine future.

All trips are set in stunning locations with inspired landscapes, as every trip provides a mix of adventure activities with stays in top spots worldwide. Additionally, you can expect to be surrounded by spirited, like-minded women on any given trip.

A feminine thread runs through our trips. WAT supports women-driven and women-owned businesses and celebrates women of influence and distinction in each market, be they a hotelier, chefs, artisans, or a woman defying the local and global odds. As a result, guests see each destination through a feminine lens.

You will be hard-pressed to find what you will experience with WAT anywhere online.

What Can You Expect on WAT’s Botswana Trip? November 3-10, 2023

WAT’s Botswana trip is all about getting off the grid and diving deep into an all-encompassing, soul sating Southern African safari.

Prepare for 24 hours of epic game viewing, some of the best in Africa, where the Big Five is often seen before breakfast. We will be doing twice-daily game drives on land and on the river!

The fun doesn’t end at sunset, as you’ll also enjoy mouthwatering five-course meals and find yourself being serenaded to sleep by the roar of the wild in the bushy background.

We’ve worked meticulously with a team of award-winning guides and Botswana’s best safari company to create this once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

This bespoke approach will have you staying in exclusive luxury camps where epic sunsets, delicious dinners under the stars, and spirited conversations around the roar of the fire round out each action-packed, other-worldly day.

If you want to get off the grid, this premier safari adventure will give you that necessary reset. Our accommodations include an eco-luxe game lodge, which employs Botswana’s only all-female guide team, Botswana’s premier mobile safari operator, and a rustic-chic retreat at Gomoti Plains.

Game drives, guided safari walks, boating, and mokoro safaris are all available, and your private veranda is the pitch-perfect place to watch the sunset or count your lucky stars.

Where Else Does WAT Go in Africa?

You are in the right place if you are interested in or as obsessed with Africa as we are at WAT. It is such a point of passion for WAT, which is why we have three Southern African adventures on offer.

South Africa is an excellent start if you haven’t been to Africa, as this trip ticks off all the boxes. You start in Johannesburg’s hip and historical city before heading to the bush for the Big Five and finally wrapping up by the chic and beachy city in Cape Town. All of the details on that trip can be found here.

Similar to Botswana, there is no time to waste to commit to this trip. The inventory is so low throughout Africa as many lodges and boutique properties are small, intimate, and very limited in heads and bed space. Yet, the global demand for African travel has been off the charts since post-Covid.

The time to book this is now, as all of WAT’s Southern African (Botswana, South Africa, and Zambia) trips are closing. Be sure to contact us asap to secure one of the few remaining spots on one of the three trips.

If you like what you see, but you can’t commit now or to the time frame for the trip, or you want to do it but with your boo or your crew, then let us know. We can design the same trip or similar or any way you want as we do private custom travel.

The inventory for group or individual travel remains low everywhere. We would need to book the lodges and guides well in advance. So, let us know what you are looking for in Africa.

What Else? Zambia!

We have two other African adventures on offer. Zambia is what many throughout Africa call The Real Africa. For many details on Zambia, check out the piece that I wrote on Zambia in Vogue

It is a majestic and more serene safari style as you feel like you have the bush all to yourself. We will stay in the top lodges, some of the best in Africa.

We will meet with esteemed women of influence throughout this trip, giving you a true sense of what it is like to be a woman in this country. We will experience a cross-section, from world-renowned conservationists to village women and cutting-edge artisans.

This trip starts with a few days in Johannesburg in South Africa and finishes with a visit to Victoria Falls in Livingstone. There is nothing quite like this.

Finally, we do have a trip set for Rwanda in East Africa. If interested, please get on the waitlist.

Again, remember that we can curate all trips privately, or you can join us with a great group of women. You decide, but let us know soon as all trips are closing.

Also, like everything else, all of these trips will be considerably higher in price next year, be it private or with our group. You will not see anything like these prices again.
