Have you discovered the most exciting part of lower Manhattan yet? You climb up a set of stairs to what was once an elevated set of railroad tracks and suddenly you’re engulfed with lovely green plants, potted trees and a path before you to walk on. It’s the wonderful High Line, New York City’s fabled walking path.
The High Line is a 1-mile New York City linear park built on a 1.45-mile section of the elevated former New York Central Railroad spur called the West Side Line, which runs along the lower west side of Manhattan in Chelsea.
The High Line only opened about a year ago, but already it’s been discovered by tourists and locals as the go-to place for a morning stroll with a t0-go cup of strong coffee, an afternoon recharge walk in the sun, or a sunset take-a-walk-with-a-coworker spot to hash out the day’s events. Along the way you’ll see fabulous new apartments that were built intentionally right on the walking path. I envy anyone who can afford to buy these chic apartments–so close to this green and pleasant trail!
But if like me, you’re not yet able to spring for a $1.5 million one-bedroom here, your next best choice would be a to choose from one of the many boutique hotels in New York and find something suitably chic for the night.
