Kyte Is A Car Rental Service Especially Made for 21-24 Year Olds

By Christy Bogan

Car rentals are essential when you’re flying some where and need to get around. But age requirements of being at least 25 keep many people my age from being able to step up to the counter.

There is an easier way to rent a car for a few days even if you’re not 25 yet. Skip lines, pick your drop-off location, and pay affordable prices all with Kyte.

This new car rental company deliver cars on demand. Kyte lets you pick where you want the car dropped off and a “Surfer” will drop off your car.

With this online experience, you’re able to rent a car from the comfort of your home and plan in advance. Even if it’s a last-minute need on your travel, Kyte can accommodate your needs for adventure.

A Few Words From Kyte

GoNOMAD corresponded with Ludwig Schoeneck, a co-founder from Kyte,  and we asked Kyte’s Senior Growth Manager Nik Donovic for some answers.

Q: Can people under 25 rent a car through Kyte?

A: Yes, we have a special program for active university students with an active .edu email which decreases the minimum age requirement to 21 instead of 25.

Q: Does Kyte own the cars you rent, or are you the middleman? Does this make it easier for your customers?

A: We own all the cars we rent out to our customers.

Q: You pride yourselves on strong communication (the app, texts, calls, and emails). What else, besides communication, does Kyte pride itself on?

A: We pride ourselves on relentless customer focus. Since day one, our goal has been to give people better access to cars on demand – where they need them when they need them. That seems to resonate with our customers.

Q: What makes Kyte different from other car rental companies? Especially the big-name brands?

A: It really comes down to 3 elements: convenience, flexibility, consistency

Convenience: Not only do we deliver and pick up the car, we will also refuel at the end of the trip at market rates, but you also don’t have to wait in long lines, and you don’t have to deal with mountains of paperwork.

Flexibility: Kyte is the best way to get a car for a day, week, or month and if people change their mind mid-trip, they can simply extend their trip through the app, take it to any other service area or make other amendments

Consistency: With Kyte, there are no surprises. A clean car is delivered to your door every time you need one – your virtual garage is always a few clicks away.

We’re looking towards the future, not just towards what is happening right now, and as we’re moving towards electric and autonomous vehicles, we’re dedicated to leading the way with a stellar product that our customers will wonder how they ever got on without.

Select what car you want, insert the days you’ll need it, upload proof of a valid license, pay the insurance fee, and then get your car delivered. And when you’re done with the car, set a location from where it needs to be picked up and a “Surfer” will pick up the car from you.

No need to clean it or fill it up with gas! The “Surfers” do all that for you, even before they drop off the car! Kyte makes sure that each car is cleaned and sanitized before they drop it off to you to ensure your health and safety.

Since it is a newer company, their locations are a bit limited. They are located in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston, Washington D.C., New York City, Jersey City, Brooklyn, Chicago, Miami, Seattle, Portland, Philadelphia, and Fort Lauderdale. If you’re planning your next vacation in one of these cities, consider Kyte!

The Kyte Booking Process

Kyte owns the cars that they rent to you, not someone else

The first step is to insert your location and the days you’ll need the car. From there, Kyte will show you available cars. It will list the car brand, how many seats it has, luggage capacity, daily rate, pictures of the car, and a brief description of the car.

If you’re interested more in a certain car, by clicking on it, Kyte will also display the car details, such as if it has Bluetooth, charging ports, heat/AC, phone mounts, and more. Once you’ve found your car, you can start to fill out some information and paperwork for the car.

There is a short verification process for the car, and once that is all set, it’s almost time to get your car!

Before the car can be secured, there is a standard deposit. In order to book a Kyte trip, a deposit is required.

If you’re using a credit card, the deposit is $300; if you’re using a debit card, the deposit is $500. This deposit will be withdrawn from your account the day your car is dropped off to you, not before.

Once the car is back with Kyte, two days after the rental, the hold of the deposit will be released and the money will go back to your account. It’s similar to a security deposit when living in an apartment or staying at an Airbnb.

When the day comes for you to get your car, your “Surfer” will contact you and keep you up to date about when they will be there.

Once they drop off the car to you and hand over the keys, the car is yours until the day you need to give it back.

The pick-up process is just as simple as the drop-off process. Pick your location and the “Surfer” will be there to get the car from you.

Don’t worry about refueling or cleaning the car, Kyte does all that for you. It’s that easy for you to rent a car. No hassle, no difficulties, no long lines.

Kyte With Universities

If you’re in college looking to use a car for the weekend or take a trip with friends, Kyte has got you covered too! Just sign-up with your active college email (must end in .edu) and you’ll be able to rent a car with Kyte.

Don’t worry about the age limit because as long as you have your active college account, Kyte allows you to rent from them.

If you go to school in the following states, you can rent through Kyte: California, Florida, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Washington, and Washington D.C.

There isn’t an extra charge, you still have to pay the standard deposit fee! All students who wish to use Kyte must be 21-24 and have car insurance.

Like any new company, some people have issues with the company, but in no time, Kyte will overcome those issues and hopefully move on to a 5-star car rental service.

After doing my research and reading plenty of good and bad reviews, I’ve come to a conclusion of my own about Kyte.

I commend them for creating a company like this, it’s incredibly smart and helps a lot of travelers in the country. Since they are a newer company, it definitely takes a few years for them to build a strong reputation and remain consistent.

Screen Shot 2022 10 10 at 4.59.26 PMWhat I respect the most about Kyte is how they take criticism and try to right their wrongs. It’s impossible not to find a single bad review about anything in our world.

But what surprised me the most about Kyte, was that under every single review on different websites, there was a Kyte representative replying to each person thanking them for their review.

Even under the negative comments, the representative always asked the reviewer to email the company so they can look deeper into what happened, what made the experience negative, and how they can fix it to make sure it doesn’t happen to anyone else.
