Near Abby Falls Coorg

Spotted this 'Danger Spot' board near Abby Falls in Coorg. I wonder what was the danger that this board was warning us about.

One completely unrelated danger that I can see is that if I am not careful, my travel plans for 2008 are in real danger. I mean it is May and I have gone out only once, to Lansdowne.

Maybe it's to keep people from swimming. There's a place around here where the water rises very quickly when they release water through the dam.
Every few years some kids get swept away, so they make the signs more and more extreme.

Looks like being straight out of a 'Phantom' comic book...

Hi.
Nany people have died trying to climb that rock (on which water is flowing). This warning sign is meant to alert people not to try climbing to the top of the fall.

Steve I agree a warning sign is better than no sign, sorry to hear about the kids being swept away.

Sidhu true :)

Thanks for letting me know Shrinidhi.

Nilesh, yes that was the case but the sign was too far away from that. Looks like the logical explanation is the one given by Shrinidhi. How about visiting Coorg as you stay close by?

When I went to Coorg last October, i was told it's closed as a guy had died the previous day...
