Dream Destinations!
These days I am hardly traveling, so have to make do with day dreaming. I think all of us have some places that we consider as dream destination. Remember Amitabh Bachchan and Doo lafzon ki hai ye kahani (this is a Hindi movie song filmed in Venice)? I was in school when this movie came and since then Venice had been my dream destination. Then in 2003 (there is a loooong gap between my schooling and 2003) I went to Modena, Italy to attend a conference and of course I stole a few hours in Venice. But unfortunately I managed to misplace all my pictures from Venice except for what I have scanned for an old blog post. Maybe, I will go there someday again.
I saw the Doo lafzon ki video again today after many many years and I was wondering what did I see there to fall in love with Venice? I mean they didn't even show the Rialto Bridge in it! And no at 100 Euro I found a Gondola ride way too expensive, so I didn't try it.
The destination I still dream about- Everest Base Camp. Have to head there in the next few years.

Interesting topic. I have a very long list of dream destinations. Here is a short version (I have been to parts of some of these destination - Alaska, Mexico, New Zealand, US National Parks, Himachal, Rajasthan, Thailand):

- Leh
- Rajasthan

Unusual, but Europen destinations do not attract me...

I have been to Venice for 3 days and I somewhat agree to you on Gondola part. But in my opinion the reason why Venice is liked is that it is one of the MOST romantic places of the world.
The beaches, the islands, the canals, St Mark square... I mean everything.

My dream destination is Paris. I knw its cliched, but have heard too much about it to forgo. I've saved it for my honeymoon though :)
I remember watching another couple of movies shot in Venice. One was Casanova and the other was Moonraker, the James Bond thriller starring Roger Moore in the lead role.

I suppose the movie makers can make places look prettier than in reality.
I didnt try the gondola either..it was too expensive ..I cant feel romantic and guilty at the same time

Sidhu that is true unless it is the Himalayas :) And little that I saw of it, I liked Venice.
