About Me
I started 'Travel Tales from India' my India Travel Blog quite reluctantly. But it has become an anchor for my writing now. I use this blog to write 'off topic' stuff too. I have two passions, to travel in India (mostly) and then talk about it. My second passion is reading. My India travel blog was once linked at BBC and The Guardian. All my stories published at Gonomad can be viewed from this writer profile page. Interested in more India Travel Blogs?

Now this title reminds me of Arun. I especially admire pictures of exotic birds. This is a lovely shot. :)
hmm.. not very clear picture. is it fog or issues with your camara ?
Yes, title reminded me of Arun's blog...
I guess it was taken when light was bit harsh, thats why its not clear...
Bharatpur is indeed a paradise for ornithologist and the picture you have captures is rarest of all.. I am not mistaken these are the Siberian Cranes...
I like that pic down there, with the lady in veil.....excellent pic
Indica, thank you. Arun is such an accomplished photographer.
Nilesh, this one was with the coolpix 3200, and the zoom was bad.
Right, Prashanth!
Manjari, these are painted storks.
Ajeya, thank you.
Hi Mridula, can I ask you when was this picture taken?
If you are wondering why am I asking this, it is because in the last few years there has been an acute water shortage in the Bharatpur sanctuary, due to which many migratory birds have stopped coming there; most notable of the absentees are the siberian cranes. I have stayed in Bharatpur for many years (when I was in school), and we used to go to the sanctuary almost every time when someone came to visit us in the winters. At that time, there was ample water, and boating was allowed in many areas. While boating, we could see many birds very closely, perched on stumps in water, or feeding the young, than can be done from the central road that is the only accessible part now.
Sigma, this was the beginning of the year 2006. That year the rains were good and even we saw many birds. It must have been wonderful to go to school in a place like Bharatpur!
