Oktatabyebye Freeze Frame Contest- Final Round
The final round is now on at Oktatabyebye. I made it to the final on the editor mention in portraits and landscape category! I was also wondering how do they ensure that I own the copyright of what I submit. I really do wonder how do online competitions manage the copyright issue in this era of millions of photographs online. Anyway, here is the mail from the Oktatabyebye team-
To ensure that only deserving and genuine entries get declared bonafide winners in the Oktatabyebye Freeze Frame Travel Photography Contest, all Category Finalists would have to submit raw files of their entries along with the proof of ownership, if they declared winners. A declaration stating that these pictures/videos are your own and you are the original copyright holder for these particular photo(s)/video(s) is also mandatory. Now I do not shoot in RAW format (but I guess they are not asking for RAW files but just files to the pics?) and I don't think I am going to win anything but I can definitely vouch that the pictures are taken by me.

What is meant by 'raw files'?
Congrats once again...
@Sidhu - RAW file format is the uncompressed, unprocessed data file captured by the camera's image sensor, before any in-camera processing has been applied... google for more details
Hey Mridula, Congrats :)
So which years did you go to IITK? I am working on a project with a friend of mine called PostIndia and it will be great if you could contribute.
Best of luck and hope to see you around.
@Prasanth: Thanks!
:)
Er...I meant Prashanth, of course!
Sidhu, I too should say thank you to Prashanth, sorry I have been late in replying.
Prashanth, thank you :)
Vibhanshu, I was at IITk from late 1990 to early 2000 :) I would syrely try to contribute to the site. It is quite interesting.
Raw image file is a format that doesnt get processed via camera DSP. 90% of neo-photographers doesnt know that why they should use RAW. I am wondering how you'r going to submit RAW file to them? There are some decoders in market.. and your camera manufacturer should have RAW decoder .. anyways congrats! you made into the finals.
All the best for the final round, Mridula! :)
Party if you win! :)
Deepak, after saying that they will declare the results on 3/9 they have not done it till date -( and anyway there are way too good photos out there.
Hey I was there around the same time. I did my undergrad there, graduated in 2003. Which department were you in?
Hi,
Wandered here trying to get a number to contact oktatabyebye. I had participated in the contest, and ended up among the Top 10 Winners (Panchchuli peaks), and my photo was also among the editor's mention. Now, I have no clue as to how to claim the prizes for either. Did they contact you regarding this?
