Icredible India Videos on Youtube

Saw this both at Daily India and CNN-IBN. The tourism ministry has launched some of its videos on Youtube. I wish the papers had given the URL of the page or a video too. Here is what the Daily India story says-

The Ministry, known worldwide for its "Incredible India" campaign, have made promotional videos available to the YouTube, the eighth most trafficked website.

From the Himalayas to the sun kissed beaches of Goa, or the boat ride in the backwaters of Kerala are now just a click away.

Needs this. We don't try to advertise enough - and only Kerala, Goa and Rajasthan won't do!

I believe that “Incredible India” campaign should be split into region wise, like Kerala, Rajasthan etc. It’s a nice initiative, but at the same time we have to promote more natural beauties and cultural heritages of different parts. Being a tourist I go to a specific place, like a city or town, just to see the things nearby. Now if EU promotes “Enchanting Europe” – what does it mean to me, nothing. Here they promote tourism town wise, maximum country wise. India is a big country, so “Incredible India” – campaigning the whole country is sometime confusing for foreign traveler, where to go, what we can cover. The sub terms like “Wonderful Uttaranchal” or “Kerala – the land of God” have to be promoted world wide.

Smita and Maverick, that is true, most people know of a few places in India and I get surprised most when they give Himalayas a miss, I know just my bias but that is how I feel!

Pijush, I also often wonder that why don't we promote our 26 world heritage sites. I mean 26 is not a small number.

Hi Mridula,
It feels good to be catching up on blogs, like yours, that I've missed reading lately.
Talking of Incredible India, I have a write-up on 'Incredible India Indeed' that's been posted yesterday for some mellow reading.
Cheers :)
