Lovely Picture

Nomad has clicked an amazing picture of Moon and Venus, you have to take a look. I wonder how much a Sigma 70-300mm F/4-5.6 APO DG Macro costs?

Anil, is 70 a very high value to start with? I only know I have a 18-55 mm and that is wide angle basic lens. 70 to 700 will give a lot of zoom I think but beyond that everything is Greek and Latin to me.

Thanks RK.

hi.. thanks a lot for the appreciation :)

The lens costs 9500 rupees and i bought it from the photo market in delhi's chandni chowk. (pritam studio to be precise)
it is not really a fancy lens, 6.5/10 is what i'd rate it at, but for that price you cannot expect more.

Yes, 70 mm is high to start with unless you plan to use an interchangeable lens starting 28mm thereabouts.

Personally I prefer using one lens starting 28mm with a range of upto 300 mm.

Operating with two lenses can be a problem and one tends to lose time in changing them, moreover frequent changing of lenses can open channels for dust and other particles to get in and settle on mirrors, or sensors if you're using a DSLR.

Tamron 28-300 is a good bet for the Price/Quality ratio it offers.

Nomad, thanks for sharing the lens information. At that price, I would love to buy it.

Anil, thanks for sharing some more lens information. I think before my next major trek, I will buy a zoom lens, one more piece to carry on those long roads!
