How do You Avoid Sunburn and Naughty Nephews?

They Grow Up So Fast!

Now you must be wondering what is the relationship between nephews and sunburn. But hear me out and you will know. Every trip in which we trek, I get sunburned and this one to Prashar Lake was no exception. I really got a burned face and it takes at least a week to get back to my original self. And all around people ask with various degrees of horror, "Ye kya hua?" (What happened).

But this time around my younger nephew took an altogether new line. Actually, when he was just a few years old and I would come home from hostel during vacation, he used to roam around with all kind of stuff sticking to his face, playing all day around. I would say, "Ye kya kalikh laga rakhe hai chehre mein? Thoda saabun dihkao isko." (Why are you roaming about with soot all over your face. Show it some soap).

Now you can guess what happened this time? The kid is 6 foot 2 inches now. He casually asked me, "Bua ye chehre ko kya hua hai?" (Aunt, what has happened to your face)? First time, unsuspecting I said, "Sunburn." He immediately told me, "No Sunburn. Ye chehre per kalikh kyon laga rakhe hai, ise saabun dikhao!"

I can't count how many times he said this to me in the past week. How fast these kids grow up!

Goodness gracious, you say it is easy to avoid sunburn? I have never been able to manage it.

One of the creams they keep advertising on television could help perhaps...A wide-brimmed hat is another option...

Sidhu, I hate using a hat on these trips as I feel it interferes with the view :)
