I cannot Imagine Leh Getting Rains!
I cannot imagine floods in Ladakh. But it is official now.
Updates on the road conditions can be found at Indiamike from the travellers.
I got these pictures of the flood courtesy Rigzin via email. He got it from a goup of Lamdon Model School, Leh graduates and he assures me that I can use them on my blog.

And Leh is supposed to be a rain shadow region Maverick!
Jivan, rains are for the romantic but the thought of floods in a rain shadow region scares me.
Sorry Mridula, but what exactly is a "rain shadow region"? The land looks really lush in pic #2!
Crystal a rainshadow region does not get rains.
Here is what Wikipedia says about it:
"A rain shadow (or more accurately, precipitation shadow) is a dry region on the surface of the Earth that is leeward or behind a mountain with respect to the prevailing wind direction. A rain shadow area is dry because, as moist air masses rise to top a mountain range or large mountain, the air cools and water vapor condenses as rain or snow, falling on the windward side or top of the mountain."
