More Pictures from the Kuari Pass Trek, Uttranchal Himalayas
"I say, if you want to find out where the road goes, get in the fast lane and hit the gas." Calvin and Hobbes
I wish I could do it like Calvin at least some of the time but we end up walking on all of our holidays, no matter what. And at least for this trip to Kuari Pass I would have it no other way.

Mridula, once again, great pictures! Life in the fast lane can get a little dizzy. Its good to take it slow sometimes. I agree that walking is the only way to explore the wonders of nature.
But you gotta love Calvin and Hobbes(my son's fav comic):))
Awesome pictures ! Wow, I won't ever feel like coming back down to earth after that view of the mountains.
(tp, Calvin and Hobbes are my favourite characters besides Charlie Brown and Snoopy..guess, I still haven't outgrown them !)
Mridula, Nice pictures. Looks like these places on your trek have still not been touched by commercialization. Must feel heavenly to walk through such a place.
u seem to have a lovely collection of pics, u sure wouldn't have so many of them if u went on a drive.
as maverick said: i guess that's the compromise! And you get to soak it in so much better. cue the deep sighs.
there's are many terrific quotes on walking to be had in LOTR :-)
kartik: one can never outgrow calvin and hobbes and snoopy!
I take Calvin's statment excatly like what it is, A Joke. By driving on a fast lane and accelerating to arrive at some place, you miss all the fun, all the beauty along the way.
Walk is an ideal way to enjoy natures serenity.
Hi Mridula,
Back from a long break!
Wonderful photos of the Himalayas, to say the least.
In my last vacation I walked 16kms a day for 6 days continuos.. :)
Gosh, I do know a thing or two about walking now! While in the Usambara Mountains in Tanzania, I walked 28km per day for 3 days while on a trek, and it was quite tortuous for me.
Crystal, 28 kms for three days is quite a lot! I am waiting for your account and pictures but I know it takes some time to get back to a routine after a trip like yours.
Deepak, good to see you back.
16 km on all six days sounds so tirring Arun.
