Have You Seen Someone This Train Crazy?

I have not. I enjoy sitting near a window on a train or a bus and let my mind wander. But Nomad with a Desk Job is in a league of his own. I quite enjoyed reading his post about MG trains:

I remember all the rides on the roof with crazy Jats for company or in the front guard van with dogs, woodcutters with a forest and school children for company. I'll never forget that biting January morning when me and Bharath Moro nearly froze to death hanging on for dear life on the catwalk of a YDM4 as it belched thick black smoke right into our faces.

On this line only, I met perhaps the friendliest railwaymen. There was nothing like having chai with the gateman at Shahbad Mohammedpur as he hurled choicest abuses at the cyclists dodging an oncoming train. Inside the coaches too the atmosphere was amazing. Bidi smoke curled thick in the air while conversation in the typical Haryanvi drawl ranged from Chautala to Mallika.

I am sure you will enjoy reading this one in full.

the craziest train tht ive ever boarded was on my way to a hill station.we were 15 guys frm college n were waiting for the train to leave the station which which would take us atop the hill passing thru some 40 + tunnels. Our train got delayed by some 2 hrs cos of some technical difficulties and we started playing volley ball in the station (thnk god we carried a ball),2 hrs was enough time for a crowd to gather up at tht supposedly boring phase to watch our game. As our train started, we found tht there was an empty goods compartment, as the train incharge had also become our audience by then we requested n got on to tht goods wagon.the doors of the wagon were half closed n here it was our mobile volley ball court, we kept playing thru the journey n it was especially exciting when the tunnels came n a darkness spread all over us making the ball invisible (it was a goods compartment so we didnt had the lights too).after a series of tunnels and 6 games we finally reached our station.and we still fight tht we lost one game cos of a tunnel tht had come just before the game point.doesnt this sound crazy?

Teri, I hope you enjoyed it.

Maverick, blog it, just blog it at your place, this comment is far too interesting to be left just like this. If you have some photos, scan them and share them with us. Real crazy train story I must say.

I actually enjoy riding trains, too, but I haven't done anything as crazy! Hahaha! I'd give up being a stay-home mom to ride trains just for the sake of it, too, if only there are decent child care services available around my area. Can't wait to travel the world!

In a Trance, I am not sure if posting a comment here is going to get you any traffic but I will let your comment stand.

Maverick, if I could I would steal this comment and your experience of playing volleyball on a moving goods train. Once again, just blog it.
