If you’ve flown to the island nation of Singapore you most likely have come a long way. For me the trip over was an adventure in itself. The world’s longest commercial flight-- Newark to Singapore. It was 18 ½ hours but I now understand why Singapore Airlines consistently ranks number one in surveys. The ethnic make up of the passengers reflected the city’s. Indians, Chinese, Malay and Anglo businessmen filled in seats in the flights two classes, Raffles and Super Economy. keep reading

Visiting Dallas Texas is like taking a crash course in cultural anthropology. No longer do you need to travel to Beijing to see great works of Chinese art or Venice, Italy, to ride a gondola or Napa Valley for great wine tasting. I found activities like these and much more in the Bluebonnet State. keep reading

Ten Travel Books of Note by Women Writers
I have a bad case of wanderlust. When I am not traveling, I think about traveling. I surf the web for deals on airfares. I stare at maps. I hang out in the travel sections of bookstores. While I am there, invariably, I am drawn to travel memoirs written by women. Luckily, these books are not in short supply. Adventurous and daring
women are hitting the road more and more often, and plenty of these trailblazing women are coming home and writing about their trips keep reading |

San Mateo: Surfing, Seals and Sun
San Mateo County lies just south of San Francisco. Its Eastern side forms the northern reaches of Silicon Valley and is loaded with high tech companies, highways and houses, while the Western side is loaded with beaches, redwoods, and farms. Both sides have distinct beauty and charm, but the misty western side awoke my inner adventurer. I also wanted to see the biggest wave on the west coast. keep reading |

By the Banks of the Suwannee: Natural Northern FL
Way down upon the Swannee River far, far away…”
You may be familiar with the Florida state song, “Old Folks at Home,” written in 1851 by the great American composer, Stephen Foster. But you may be less familiar with the subject of the song, the Suwannee River, which flows 207 miles from the Okefenokee Swamp in southern Georgia to the Gulf of Mexico, its banks lined with tall longleaf pines, cypress and sweeping live oaks dripping with Spanish moss. And if you’ve never visited the Suwannee River, you have something in common with Foster who never set foot in Florida! keep reading |

Photography Tips from a 20 Year Shooter
I have been a pro shooter for over 20 years and recently had the chance to travel to Guatemala to photograph for Gonomad. I fell in love with Guatemala. It is a rich and diverse country full of opportunity for the traveler /photographer. You can meet the wonderful Mayan people. See the outstanding landscape doted with active volcanoes as well as the great Archeological sites like Tikal. Or visit one of the quaint Spanish colonial towns like Antigua or the magnificent lake Atitlan.

Sweden's Surprises
Swedes are private, reserved and formal. They get right down to business after very brief cordialities. So go the business guides which many rely upon for pre-trip advice. Such books are quickly getting outdated, based upon a recent trip to this Nordic country. The nation recently has garnered much attention recently ranging from Tiger Woods’ nuptials to Swedish model Elin Nordegren to Swedish golfer Annika Sorenstam to recently named Nobel Prize laureate candidates. keep reading

Benvenuto! Sicily's Warm, Friendly Welcome
Foreigners near and far travel to Sicily as tourists, but leave the island as humbled guests. Sicilians welcome strangers not by a measly crack but with the doors to their homes swung wide open.
At first, I was apprehensive about my encounters with Sicilians while overseas. keep reading
