Monster Cieba Tree
Years ago, in Guatemala, my friend Michelle and I took a row boat down the jungle-choked Rio de la Pasion to reach the Mayan ruins of Ceibal. Once there, we hiked through the foliage and came upon some massive cieba trees, for which it seemed the ruins were named. This one was so hugely impressive that we just had to stop and take some pictures. That's me tucked back there behind a root. After I got home and got my pictures developed, this photo freaked me out. There is a monster hidden within the bark of the tree.
Can you see it?
