Getting There: From Nice, Bayonne (capital of French Basque territory)
is about four hours by rail, with St Jean de Luz another 20 minutes
to the south.
A Eurail
pass is great value. With the pass, you can explore places way
off the beaten track, including Basque heartland in Spain and St
Jean Pied-de-Port.
Where to Stay: The best deals can be had by booking ahead.
