Travel Radio, Trucking to Oz

It was good to be back in action today with a call to Around the World Travel Radio with host Arthur von Wiesenberger and the very English Richard Mineards today. (Happened to catch Richard on the E Channel this weekend) Unfortunately wires got crossed so I did some about Stockholm which Max did last week but it all worked out. There is also a version of Around the World Travel Radio in Australia hosted by good bud Ren Zwiers who also has a blog filled with info from an Oz point of view. He included my segment of Sailing St Vincents recently that aired on multiple stations Down Under, “good on ya Ren”! I have always enjoyed Ren’s segments here in the US so it is great to be able to keep up with my favorite Aussie, check him out. We also have Max’s and my segments available on GoNOMAD, love when Max cracks the whip.

Doing Travel Radio, Love Around the World Travel Show

Doing travel radio is a gas but doing it for Around the World Travel Radio is just fantastic. I now get to hear my segments and watch video streamed from the studio, a great touch. AWTR has been California’s primo travel radio show since it began in 1998 and primo host Arthur von Wiesenberger is the one big reason! I never realized that Arthur gets so into it, even donning a Panama hat for my Puerto Rico piece.

The show originates in Southern California and airs on AM 1290 KZSB three times. From there it spreads like wildfire, especially in Australia. Arthur and Richard Mineards have a travel radio show that will be the standard ,listen from anywhere and then go.

Travel Radio and Being a Guest on Travel Planners

It seems strange sometimes to be looking out my office window and talking about a faraway destination over the phone knowing that it is getting heard in many places. I love doing travel radio shows and doing them with Kevin and Sue Mc McCarthy on Travel Planners is always fun. They are upbeat and ask the best questions. Best yet they are avid travelers themselves.

Today my segment was about Marrakech and Fes Morocco and was heard by their affiliates in Florida, Illinois, Missouri and even the Netherlands. Max met the McCarthys on a trip to Malaysia and turned me on to the show. In turn I introduced Max to the Around the World Radio folks so we both get to ride the radio airways frequently. It just amazes me that from a small hamlet like Cottekill NY or a town like Deerfield Mass our views on destinations from the other side of the world are heard. Then again GoNOMAD’s readers are from every corner of the world.
