Travel Therapy, the Book

I get asked constantly where to go next by people I know. I now have the perfect answer, go to Karen Schaler’s new book Travel Therapy. This clever book has the run down on all sorts of trips to suit your needs. Take one of the quizzes and it will match up the destinations that fit the bill. I meant every word in the blurb, congratulations Karen.

Travel Therapy, Karen Schaler and a Blurb

I had a chance to read a chapter from a new book coming out this spring by the unflappable Karen Schaler called Travel Therapy. As I would expect from Karen it was snappy and well worded. That made my task a bit harder, writing a blurb for the book, I wanted to do it justice. I met Karen on an adventure trip to Puerto Rico this past year and was thrilled that she came up with the idea over mojitos and a conversion we shared there. Karen obviously is a girl of action, being an embedded correspondent in Afghanistan is just one example. I have also got to say that I reread that chapter several times and am anxiously looking forward to some more therapy! At some point I plan to ask her for a blurb for a project I have in mind, no doubt it will be snappy and well worded.

Puerto Rico Adventure with Karen Schaler and ABC News

I got an email today from my mojito drinking buddy Karen Schaler with a link to one of her latest articles on ABC News.com. Mine is posted on GoNOMAD and has a link to a radio show I did about the trip. She used a picture of me strapping into my zip line on a recent adventure trip to Puerto Rico. While certainly not model material the excitement on my face is very evident. Karen has quite a career in the traveling world including a stint as an embedded war correspondent in Afghanistan and articles in the New Yorker, Boston Globe and Town & Country. Karen is a long legged, vivacious blond and I have to smile when I think of her in battle gear crawling through the sand and her camera crew trying to keep up with her. She is equally remarkable in cocktail dress and heels.

I think one of the reasons I love what I do is meeting some of the most interesting people on the planet. To do that in some of the most incredible places on the planet is sheer delight. The bonding done while traveling is so intensive that the good and bad aspects are blatantly laid out in short fashion. In fact the diversity of personalities in itself would be reason enough to take up a pen (computer) and hit the road. If you are in need of therapy check out Karen’s website Travel Therapy, it just might set you straight.
