Radio Report about the Best Job in the World, Queensland on Around the World Travel Radio

I caught up with the archives of Around the World Travel Radio and listened to Sue Frause’s report about the Best Job in the World campaign. It was cool to hear it because I happened to be invited there to Hamilton Island for the Queensland launch. This Thursday before heading to NYC for the NY Times Travel Show, I will be phoning in my report about my trip to Hamilton Island, Lizard Island and Fitzroy Island. In fact it will give a little insight to what I actually saw on the Great Barrier Reef and maybe some tips to what they are looking for in a candidate.

The radio report can be heard live Eastern Time 1:50 PM on this Thursday if you click the blue here. It will later be on the archives here. This PR campaign from Queensland has me amazed so I am keeping track of it and the newest news I can find is that over 10,000 videos have been sent in. However more than half didn’t fit the guidelines so if applying follow directions.

Gotta Pee Off the Great Barrier Reef

video This half of a newly wed couple was cute as a button and part of a new great team. I videoed her approaching our boat off of Horse Shoe, part of the Great Barrier Reef. Her new hubby is a lucky man as her demeanor is natural and her sense of humour great, when you gotta go do so. By the way she wasn't the only one and I did ask permission.

Lizard Island, Best on the Great Barrier Reef, Austalia

I am sitting on the 15th floor of the Hilton with the lively city of Brisbane below. It is time to pack up for the long journey home, almost 30 hour trip coming up, with the memories of three great Islands of the Great Barrier Reef to sustain me. Hamilton, Lizard and Fitzroy were all different and all great but I think Lizard was my favorite. Maybe it was the tranquil setting or the rustic luxury. It certainly had some great snorkeling and picture perfect waters, a place to truly get away from it all.

A New Travel Writing Year, Starting on the Great Barrier Reef's Islands

The holidays are over and though I had a great time I am ready to end it, a weekend will help the transformation. I have been working on several articles at once, new for me but I am finding it a productive way for me. I want to leave 2008 trips behind and start thinking about 2009. I start with a bang by heading to the islands of the Great Barrier Reef, Australia this Friday; I have never been so I am quite excited by the opportunity. Of course that means a long flight from NYC to LAX to Brisbane then finally to Hamilton Island. Once there I will be traveling by various modes of transportation, prop plane, sailboat, ferry and golf carts. I love diversity in travel modes. The only trouble for me is that I must pack light, not my forte. Still it will be the middle of summer there so a swim suit, shorts and fashionable summer wear should make packing easy.

The Great Barrier Reef, What a Great Christmas Present

I’m not sure if I was really all that good this past year but I did get a fantastic early Christmas present. I’m going where the eco system contains over 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of mollusks, island rainforests and beaches fill out the dry land options. I will get a chance to feed giant cod and snorkel with giant clams, from my own motorized dingy. I will be island hopping at the Great Barrier Reef, Australia in early Jan. Small props and high speed ferries will be the mode of transportation besides the fins strapped on. The islands covered will be Hamilton, Fitzroy and Lizard; key is the fantastic Voyages Resort, world renown and tops of lists worldwide. With friends like Melissa Braverman and Quinn and Company who needs Santa.
