Chile's Torres del Paine National Park: Glacier Watching and Spectacular Scenery I had hiked 10 days in Chile’s Torres Del Paine National Park to get here, and got up before dawn. I felt like a pilgrim waiting for a miracle. In a way, I got one. Along with many others I was staring at three towers of vertical granite that soar above a glacial lake, willing the sun to hurry up and rise now and for the fog to stay away. Chile's Elqui Valley: A Zen Experience in 'Travel Therapy' The best way to take in the natural wonders of the Elqui Valley is to camp under the stars along the Cochiguaz River. Camping Cochiguaz is located at the end of the road, far away from noise or lights and offers camp sites with communal showers and toilets. It’s also located directly beneath the mountain where all of the valley’s magnetic and spiritual energy emanates from. The campground is run by Manuel, a friendly local, and is often visited by horses, dogs and goats, so hide your food at night. From Cochiguaz, natural stargazing is the best.
